2010 OMTA Marina Clean up event, click here for pictures
On Saturday, May 8, 2010 several OMTA members, marina management and local business owner, John Brimer all assisted in removing debris from the marina’s waters. A breakfast of juice and donuts were provided by the OMTA.
The group commenced its clean up efforts and was successful in removing many large timbers, planks, pallets and other small debris floating debris. Several of the large pieces were partially submerged and posed a threat to boats entering and operating in our marina.
All of the large debris was transported to Schubert’s Marine. John Brimer facilitated the haul out and disposal. Many of the boards were over 20' in length and would have been impossible to haul out by hand. Other than a few aching backs the event was a success and a fun way for members to meet their marina neighbors.
Chuck Dixon, Rolla Tichenor, Keith Kornrumpf and others lead the land based efforts to retrieve debris from the marina. The water based efforts were lead by Captain Bob Garrity with crewmen Harold Jumonville, Larry Bowers, Captain Bob Gravolet, crewmen Bruce Roussell and Warner Tureaud.
Special thanks go to Robert Garrity and Bob Gravolet? Who donated the use of their boats. Thanks also to new OMTA Board member Bruce Roussell who picked up the donuts and was our on site photographer.
